Danish Intimate Healthcare Company signs Product Supply Agreement with Kunene Health Care (Pty) Ltd.
In 1994 Coloplast, a Danish based manufacturer of Intimate Healthcare products established a representative office in South Africa to better cater for the needs of the local ostomy appliance user. The goal also was to develop the urinary continence care and modern wound management business.
Now after 15 years and with national representation which includes specialist stoma therapy nursing services, Coloplast have become market leaders in the Ostomy Care business while continuing to invest in developing the modern wound care market through education and by the launching of innovative wound dressings like Biatian Ag and Biatain Ibu.
Coloplast signed a product supply agreement with fledgling South African device company Kunene Health Care co-founded by Dr Derrick Mthembu , a General Surgeon and Dr Dudu Kunene (previously an Anaesthetist) who is part of the well established Kunene Brothers Holding
“Although in its infancy, we see this relationship developing into a meaningful partnership by merging the medical expertise provided Dr Mthembu with the innovative product portfolio, knowledge and passion of the local Coloplast team” said Brian Garvey, General Manager of Coloplast in South Africa. “It has long been my wish to source a local partnership that will add more value than just the clichéd BEE scorecard goals. This is not a BEE relationship. Kunene Health Care will contribute much more value to this arrangement. Our vision is to be able to continue to build on our existing relationships in the ostomy segment but at the same time develop our wound care business into the community market. We are confident Kunene Health Care will add value here” added Garvey
Kunene Healthcare started trading in June 2005 as close corporation and was converted to a public company on the 22/01/2007.The shareholders and the directors of the company have combined more than 60 years experience in health care industry, extensive network in both public and private healthcare, and Kunene Health care 4 years track record of distributing wound care products in Gauteng Province.
